2010 Singapore Dragon Boat Festival
It was a great weekend for the team at the 2010 Singapore Dragon Boat Festival on July 10-11th. SILVER MEDAL

2010 Dragon Divas
On Saturday June 12, the American Dragons continued our 2010 season by participating in one of the year's most unique and entertaining races: the Dragon Divas. This annual race focuses on our Lady Dragons as they battle it out with other women-only crews from our International / Expatriate league. Our ladies showed their strength, style and technique by handily winning their preliminary heat and earning a place in the six boat final, where they finished in fourth place. Our congratulations go out to the ladies of SPC, AustCham Paddle Club and the German Dragons for finishining in the top three slots!
The American Dragons men, however, were not about to be left out of the fun and competition!
2010 Gallop of the Dragons
Way to take home the Bronze in the Expat Challenge at the Gallop of the Dragons race yesterday. This confirms we are one of the top three expat teams in the country. We continue to demonstrate our competitiveness, organization, and effectiveness, and the reasons for us to be proud of our accomplishments continue to roll in! (see "More" to read the entire article and see the videos!)
American Association Requests Donations for 4th of July
The American Association of Singapore (AAS) needs your support for its annual 4th of July fireworks show – a spectacular display of American tradition that touches the heart of our community and unites us under a common bond. For a $100 donation become a fireworks sponsor which includes having your name listed in the Singapore American Newspaper as a firework contributor. The 4th of July Celebration is a free event because of the generosity of sponsors and donations from companies and individuals.
To make the $100 donation, simply go to http://www.aasingapore.com/en/catalogs/items/view.asp?catalogid=7. Alternatively, you can mail a check to the AAS office address below and include how you’d like your name to appear on the Singapore American Newspaper list of contributors.
2010 PA Paddle Results - Gold!
The 300m People's Association Paddle Championship was held on Sunday, April 25 at Bedok Reservoir. This race is not normally on our annual race schedule, but since they added an International Business Community (aka "Expat") category we decided to make an appearance and support our league. You have to be in it to win it!
The good news: We cleanly took first place and brought home the gold trophy and some hardware!
MR500 First Race, First Team Photo for 2010
The first race of 2010, the SAVA MR500 at Bedok Reservoir on March 27/28, was planned as a foundation event for the season and we are glad to be off to such a good start. With our many new team members spread across all of our boat crews, they earned a lot of valuable race experience. You can check out the whole story and see more photos in our "Events & Results" section, here.

Our Fleet in Kallang
Our three boat fleet, cleaned, oiled, and ready for action. 2010 is going to be a good season.

Thanks to all who stood for election, we need people willing to step up and it's good to see we have plenty. Remember, it isn't only the LC that has responsibility for the team's success! I would also like to once again express me appreciation to the 2009 LC and appointees (Mark K and Darrin for OC, Chip for Technology, and especially Jim for Engineering) for their solid work.
